Hey, I have a car charger you may want to add to your review list.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B014F2NQ36/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1447874269&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=vinsic+car+charger&dpPl=1&dpID=313R9veBAcL&ref=plSrch

It has both Type A and Type C USB ports, so it might be a decent option.

I also have a couple questions about C to C USB cables and car chargers. First are all Type C to C cables spec compliant? Second, is it okay to use car chargers that aren’t 2.4A+ rated, either with A to C cables or C to C cables? I know they won’t charge as fast, but would they be damaged by the phone trying to draw more than what the charger is capable of?
    Thanks

    1. Thanks for your comment. I have seen that car charger but did not add to the list because there are some really good quality Anker PowerDrive 2 chargers, which are cheap and reliable. These will charge at 2.4A over an “approved” USB A to C cable.

First are all Type C to C cables spec compliant?

Yes, the majority of C-to-C cables are good quality. The spec that Benson is specifically looking at is for USB A to C cables. As long as the C to C cables are from a reputable seller with good reviews, I would recommend it. There are some options listed on the Google Sheet.

Second, is it okay to use car chargers that aren’t 2.4A+ rated, either with A to C cables or C to C cables?

Yes. It is fine to use these, they will just charge your device slower.

Thanks for the info. I also have another charger to add to your list. Monoproce has one that looks similar to the Vinsic one I mentioned. I called them to get more info about it. It’s a 2 port car charger (1 USB-A port and 1 USB-C port) rated for 3A that they claim will do 1.5A per port with both ports in use or the full 3A with only one port in use. So far that sounds like the closest a car charger has come to the output of the OEM wall charger if what they say is true, since most top out at 2.4 per port regardless if only one or both ports are used.
